Tense and Its Types
Definition of Tense:
Tense indicates the time of an action or event. It is divided into three main categories, each with four subtypes.

Present Tense
- Simple Present
- Structure:
- Affirmative: Subject + V1 (+ s/es for he/she/it) + Object.
- Negative: Subject + do/does + not + V1 + Object.
- Interrogative: Do/Does + Subject + V1 + Object?
- Example:
- Affirmative: She writes a letter.
- Negative: She does not write a letter.
- Interrogative: Does she write a letter?

- Example:
- Affirmative: They are playing cricket.

- Negative: I have not completed the task.

- Example:
- Affirmative: She has been reading a book for two hours.
- Negative: She has not been reading a book for two hours.

- Simple Past
- Structure:
- Affirmative: Subject + V2 + Object.
- Negative: Subject + did not + V1 + Object.
- Interrogative: Did + Subject + V1 + Object?
- Example:
- Affirmative: He wrote a letter.
- Negative: He did not write a letter.
- Interrogative: Did he write a letter?
